If you are interested in the medical field and love to help people, working as a Home Health Aide may be the perfect career for you. The home health field is growing rapidly and it’s fairly easy to get started. However, there are a few things to take into consideration when it comes to becoming a Home Health Aide.
Have a Passion for those in Need.
Working with the elderly, disabled and chronically ill can be a very rewarding and meaningful career. However, it isn’t for everyone. You should be caring, compassionate, patient and flexible to care for those who can’t totally care for themselves.
Some patients may be fairly independent and need minimal assistance. You may spend most of your time talking and entertaining them. These types of patients are the easiest to care for.
In contrast, you might have patients that are very dependent. They may be bedridden or wheelchair bound, and they may need maximum assistance or full care when it comes to bathing, dressing, eating, excreting, etc. These patients may be challenging to care for. However, with love and dedication, the challenges are minimal.
